Chris Henry is an award-winning professional theatre director in New York City. Over the past 19 years she has developed after-school and theatre programs all over the country. Most recently, Henry co-founded Chris Henry & Royal Family Productions, Inc., a non-profit Theatre Company whose mission is to make theatre as accessible and more enjoyable than television.
In addition to Royal Family’s Mainstage productions, the company prides itself on
providing quality after-school drama for kids of all socio-economic backgrounds.
Henry has worked and developed afterschool programs at many of New York City’s
premiere private schools, including The Collegiate School (8 years), The Rodeph Sholom
School (8 years), and The Brearley/Chapin Clubhouse program (6 years). Henry spent two years developing an educational theatre curriculum at P.S. 75 in the South Bronx. In addition, she has worked at Camp Androscoggin in Maine (20 years) where she is the director of the Creative Arts Program.
Henry’s most recent project, based on a feature film treatment she wrote for HBO,
is a theatrical work-in-progress based on actual events, titled Nobody Suspects a Butterfly, starring Anthony Rapp. Favorite NYC Directing credits include Art of War at Madison Square Garden, Glory and the Juniper Queen at Symphony Space, Sharpen
